Over the past four years, many agents on the Costa del sol have focused almost entirely on the sale of off plan apartments and houses to clients, and have encouraged a great many people to purchase more than one property, often with the promise of large profits to be achieved when selling before completion.
However, when the time comes to sell, the agents that originally sold them are often not interested in marketing these properties, and, due to the number of investors looking to re-sell at the same time, it is difficult to achieve anything like the prices promised.
This means that many vendors are left with a stark choice, either complete on the purchase of the property, which in many instances may prove difficult; allow the developer or builder to take back the property and consequently lose the original deposit; sell the property at a break even price.
